my sony xbr projection tv is blinking the red standy LED light. I found out that the number of blinks indicates a code and supposedly the code thats blinking says the tv is overheating. I turn on the tv and two seconds later it turns off. I know I have to have it serviced but does anyone know more or less how much it will cost to fix the problem…by the way I dont have the extended warranty and it is out of warranty.
Cost can vary depending on the problem with the TV. As with just about any type of electronics and overheating problem can be caused by a number of things, not to mention it can cause other problems. It could be something simple and a 1 part replacement, all the way to your mainboard being fried. Even to the point the TV will just need to be junked. There is no solid answer without knowing 100% of what is going on inside the cabinet.
I am looking to buy a 32”-37” tv. I cannot decide which of these Tv’s to buy. Assuming price is the same, which should I go for? The Sharp is LED, but the Sony is a Bravia!
Thanks for the responses. I just ordered a Sony Bravia KDL32W5500U. Went for an upgrade!
LCD TV can never compare to LED TV.
in pictures quality . LED TV is close to Plasma TV . is almost Prefect display in many areas . 40 % less power consumption than LCD TV.In prices .LED TV is 2 X more than standard LCD TV. 1 X more than Hi End LCD TV.
if you looking for prefect pictures quality and you willing to paid that kind of prices . GO FOR LED TV for sure.
Sharp VS Sony LCD TV.
Sharp is the first Japan TV / Electronics maker to invest LCD display since 20 years ago. Sharp LCD display panel plan is Japan bigger and world 4 largest .
Sony hi end LCD model screen size 46 above model / new LED TV use Sharp Japan made Display Panel. * Sony and Sharp will joint to Develop new LCD / LED display panel by 2011 *
Sony LCD TV screen size 19 – 40 . 90 % LCD display panel is by Korea S-LCD , a display panel manufacture joint venture between Samsung-Sony * Samsung 19-20 Inc use the same panel * Some of 19-26 inc Sony model use Taiwan AU-OTRON made display panel *
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-LCD
is mean . the 19-40 inc LCD from Samsung and Sony will be about same quality. due to same Spc LCD display panel. ( compare to same range of model )
Sharp make Excellence TV . but because of " NAME ". people think of Sony .
if side by side compare to same range AQUOS amd BRAVIAL by same movies. you eye will not getting any significant difference in pictures quality. ( but not LCD vs LED )
I got like 700 – 800$ to spend so what should i get sony, samsung, or lg? plasma or lcd or i think there is this new thing called lcd led?
Samsung is your highest rated brand, and in my professional opinion, is the best presently. Sony is a close second though, so you can’t go wrong there either. LG is decent, but is kind of in a mid-high range that shares it’s abilities with Sharp, Toshiba, and Panasonic.
I would go for a Samsung LN40B530 model. It’s a 40" Samsung with a great picture and 1080p capabilities. The only thing it lacks is a 120hz processor which you probably won’t find in that price range anyway unless you are getting a smaller set.
That television is a regular price of 899.99 but you can find it on sale for 799.99 sometimes, and maybe cheaper if you can do a cardholder deal or rebate or something. Best Buy and Sears are both running it at 799.99 right now actually. Check it out sometime in store if possible.
As for the LED sets, with your price range, they’re not something to consider. Samsung is the LED maker right now and they don’t manufacture models smaller than 40" which run around 2,000 dollars. For the time being, unless you have a lot of money to blow, then LED really isn’t an option.
Anyway, hope this helped, I’m open to emails about television questions any time.

WHAT IS difference LCD 46" TV VS. LED ? WHat is the Difference ? Benefit in one compare the other?
I want to purchase an 46" TV Like Sony Because they have E-TV Guide Updated Free and Great quality BUT Samsung also sells good TV I’ve seen them selling LED
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE LED V.S. Comparing to LCD ? Both TV and going to be 46" or larger?
Thank you for replying
Both are LCD TV’s. One is lit by a bulb. The other is lit by an array of LED’s. LED’s are the superior technology. With standard LCD TV’s, there is only 1 light source for the entire screen. With LED LCD TV’s, there is an array of LED’s. Each lights up a small region of the screen. The brightness of each LED is determined by the software that runs the TV. As a result, Blacks on these sets are far deeper than they are on standard LCD TV’s.
In short, If you care about picture quality (and the store is a lousy place to see that), and you can swing the increase in price, get the LED backlighted TV. In fact, next time, ask the salesman to show you the difference.

What company makes the best LED’s? will give points for helpful answers?
I see samsung, Sharp, LG as the 3 top brands and I was going
for Samsung but Samsung only has 1 component input and I need
2 for 2 different consoles, and LG and Sharp have 2 component inputs.
What looks better the Sharp LED tv’s or LG’s , I like LG’s LH90 or SL90
models but I wanna know everyone’s take. Also I love plasma but don’t
want it because im a hardcore gamer.
Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs. You will notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end. While Sony, Samsung and Toshiba does not (December issue). Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio did not even get mentioned. If you read the questions on yahoo you will notice that 95% of tv problems are from LCD tvs and 95% of those are from off brands. You will also notice that power board on Sony and Samsung are breaking down after a couple of years, and there customer service support center are not very helpful. If you have your heart on an LED tv, then Sony would be the top choice but it is more money. Hope this will help you out.
