Ok, so LED TV is all the rage these days, LCD is slowly improving, and DLP…well it’s still DLP.

From what I’ve heard, despite the improvements other TV technologies have made, Plasma still offers the best picture quality (even over LED). Is this true? I’m looking to buy an HDTV and would like to hear from all of you…which type of HDTV offers the best picture quality?

Yes, Plasma still has the best picture quality!

The only advantage it’s closest competitor has(LED TV) is in energy consumption! LED LCD TVs use up to 50% less energy then standard LCD or Plasma TVs! But what’s the point of saving money on energy when you have to pay so much more for the TV? It’s negating the energy savings!

Otherwise…Plasma TVs still have better "native" contrast ratios. Up to 5,000,000:1 in some 2010 models! They also have the fastest response times(.001ms) and fastest refresh rates(600hz). Making them the best at producing the sharpest and smoothest motion possible. Perfect for fast motion content like sports, movies and gaming!

The reason i used "native" contrast ratio rather then "dynamic" is because dynamic is a useless number! The definition of Dynamic contrast ratio is the measurement of a TVs ability to render it’s blackest black and whitest white in a non-specified amount of time or frames. I don’t like going by a TV’s dynamic contrast ratio because this number is not controlled by any other source other then the manufacturer of the TV. So basically the manufacturer can use any or all means necessary to get this number! There’s no way to prove that the TV can actually obtain this number!

Native’ contrast ratio on the other hand is considerably more accurate and a better number to go by if you want to get an idea of the TV’s picture quality capabilities! Native contrast ratio is the measurement of a TVs ability to render it’s blackest black and whitest white on a single frame.

And ONLY plasma’s can obtain this high of a native contrast ratio. This is because of each one of their pixels can be turned on or off! Creating a wider field of contrast. LCD TVs cannot accomplish this do to the backlight sources. Even the smallest backlight source(LED) covers an area of tens or hundreds of pixels! Rendering their native contrast ratios much lower.

Go with a Panasonic Plasma TV and you will not be dissappointed! Happy hunting!

I think this 2 Tvs are very similar, both are LED, HD, 100 Hz, 55 inches.. Sony is more expensive.
Wich is better?
I need help!

This is a really hard question to answer. Both are very good TVs. Samsung has been selling more because they deliver Sony quality (and sometimes better) at a lower price. Personally I prefer Samsung.
In the case of these 2 models, the Samsung is also Internet connected. The other specs are very closely matched. You can’t lose either way!

What TV(samsung,sony,lg)?

Posted by admin in lg led tv

I got like 700 – 800$ to spend so what should i get sony, samsung, or lg? plasma or lcd or i think there is this new thing called lcd led?

Samsung is your highest rated brand, and in my professional opinion, is the best presently. Sony is a close second though, so you can’t go wrong there either. LG is decent, but is kind of in a mid-high range that shares it’s abilities with Sharp, Toshiba, and Panasonic.

I would go for a Samsung LN40B530 model. It’s a 40" Samsung with a great picture and 1080p capabilities. The only thing it lacks is a 120hz processor which you probably won’t find in that price range anyway unless you are getting a smaller set.

That television is a regular price of 899.99 but you can find it on sale for 799.99 sometimes, and maybe cheaper if you can do a cardholder deal or rebate or something. Best Buy and Sears are both running it at 799.99 right now actually. Check it out sometime in store if possible.

As for the LED sets, with your price range, they’re not something to consider. Samsung is the LED maker right now and they don’t manufacture models smaller than 40" which run around 2,000 dollars. For the time being, unless you have a lot of money to blow, then LED really isn’t an option.

Anyway, hope this helped, I’m open to emails about television questions any time.

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST TV TO BUY NOW IN DAYS SINCE THE NEW LED TV’S CAME OUT?

LED, LCD, DLP OR PLASMA?

THANX YOU

Honestly, it all comes down to what you watch, when, for how long, and things like distance from the set and ambient light in the room.

If you watch a lot of sports and can control the ambient light in the room, you are going to be hard pressed to find a better picture than on a plasma TV. Contrast ratios are naturally higher to begin with, and they naturally have a quicker refresh rate than other flat screens.

If light seems to be a problem or you watch more movies than sports, then you’re a prime candidate for an LCD running 120Hz @ 1080p. but be cautious, because the higher you go in models the glossier the screens become. You may end up with just as much glare as you would have had buying a plasma!

If you’re more into nature and watch TV from greater than average distances, you will love the new LEDs. I have talked to a few people who have gotten too close to these and experiences a "seasick" feeling, because of the motion control, I imagine.

If you like your "Man cave", you can get the biggest picture for your bucks by going DLP. Prices have really hit bottom on even the most desired brands and models, and they are now the most cost effective of the big screens to repair, with the main component (the bulbs) easily replaceable and most costing less than $200 to replace.

All these TVs will take BluRay and video games without a chance of "repetitive image burn in", so don’t let that hold you back, either! Shop around for the best price, and make sure to take advantage of any service contracts that might be offered. A lot of times, the cost of repairing these devices may be as much as buying a new one!

I see samsung, Sharp, LG as the 3 top brands and I was going
for Samsung but Samsung only has 1 component input and I need
2 for 2 different consoles, and LG and Sharp have 2 component inputs.
What looks better the Sharp LED tv’s or LG’s , I like LG’s LH90 or SL90
models but I wanna know everyone’s take. Also I love plasma but don’t
want it because im a hardcore gamer.

Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs. You will notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end. While Sony, Samsung and Toshiba does not (December issue). Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio did not even get mentioned. If you read the questions on yahoo you will notice that 95% of tv problems are from LCD tvs and 95% of those are from off brands. You will also notice that power board on Sony and Samsung are breaking down after a couple of years, and there customer service support center are not very helpful. If you have your heart on an LED tv, then Sony would be the top choice but it is more money. Hope this will help you out.
