I dunno where else to ask this question. The TV in question is this:

LG LCD TV 42 42LG30R

And here’s a list of its features:

The info varies a little bit i think depending on the website i look into, but the question is, will this TV fully allow me to enjoy my PS3 games and BR movies in true HD? In the features there’s no mention to whether it outputs 480 720 or 1080p or i or whatever.

Is there any difference at all? should i get a full HD tv instead or this one will do just fine?

I’m getting this tomorrow (wednesday, november 26/2008), at USD $1265 tax included . I think it is pretty cheap, but i’d like to know what i’m buying into. I really dunno much about HD stuff :( , so i’d appreciate a little help, thanx a lot =)
EDIT:

Stephen M, i really appreciate your answer to my question, it is actually very accurate, and i’m reading a lot into it to find out more in the links you posted.

So, it only supports up to 720, that’s too bad. But then, would i notice the difference between 720 and 1080? I mean, i wouldn’t like to make a rushed buy if it ain’t gonna be a good (or "decent" at least) buy. I’m a huge fan of PS3 games and HD videos/ graphics, tho unfortunately i really don’t know much about it. Would they look bad on this LG tv set?

I live in Ecuador, South America. 32" to 52" LCD HD TV’s are sold over the USD $1000 price range, being a 42" about $2000 and so on price.

It would be the only chance to get a 42" tv at that price, but again, if you or anyone thinks it ain’t worth it, then i’ll pass. thanx again =)

D_Icon is wrong (on several counts)

This set is capable of 720p only. I do not know where you are but in the US, $1265 for a 42 inch 720p set is not a good price.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_video

Quote "A common resolution used in HD Ready LCD TV panels is 1366 × 768[2] pixels instead of the ATSC Standard 1280 × 720 pixels. This is due to maximization of manufacturing yield and resolution of VGA, VRAM that comes with a 768 pixel format. Hence, LCD manufacturers adopt the 16:9 ratio compatible for the HD Ready 1080p standard."

Without having a 720p and 1080p set side by side with the same signal, I doubt most people would be able to tell the difference. We have a 720 p set in out house along with a 1080p set and we love both of them. As far as the cost, with exchange rates and all, I’m simply not qualified to say if that is a good price or not. It would not be all that good here, but your situation is different. If you can afford it and like the set, go for it. Good luck!

LED and LCD TV question?

Posted by admin in sony led tv

i am gonna get a new tv soon and i just wanted to know which one is better i am planning to get 32 inch samsung LED or should i buy one of the sony x series, plz tell me any lcd or led tv that are good. I am wanting to buy lcd or led tv from 32 inch to 50 inch. In which i can afford only 1500 dollars less. So plz give me any good hd tv worth to buy first best answer will get 10 points.

an important question is how far away you are sitting from the tv. look up some charts online and find out the ‘proper viewing distance’ for different size tvs.
that will decide what technology you can afford. if you need a 50" tv, then you won’t be able to get LED on your budget
I would by Samsung no matter what. check out their product line at samsung.com and get the best model you can afford for the correct size for your room.

crazy ed makes a good point. If your viewing room is very dark, like a basement, then plasma is probably the best choice. if you have lots of sun or very bright lights, go with led or lcd.

Around £650, Full HD, name brand and around 40" (37" is ok, too). Thanks.

Good luck, Cheapest LED HDTV out right now for 40" is around $2000 CAD. Give it a year or so and you might be able to find one in your price range.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/01/lg-introduces-stylish-led-backlit-22-inch-w2286l-lcd-hdtv/

I was hoping to get this monitor because it looks cool and i think its close to 1080p not sure or any other 1080p monitor but would it work with the ps3 blu ray? Why do people buy expensive tvs when u could just get monitors?

It is not 1080p.

The monitor is too small to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.

The expensive TV’s have the advantage of being much bigger, therefore much better for watching movies and playing games. In any case, you can get a Full HD TV of at least 40-42inch, for around £500 these days, won’t be the best one out there, but it will be a Samsung or LG, and very good for gaming and movies, much better than a monitor:) I recommend you just save up a little more, and get a cheap bargain Full HD TV, choose a brand name one though:)
