I dunno where else to ask this question. The TV in question is this:

And here’s a list of its features:

The info varies a little bit i think depending on the website i look into, but the question is, will this TV fully allow me to enjoy my PS3 games and BR movies in true HD? In the features there’s no mention to whether it outputs 480 720 or 1080p or i or whatever.

Is there any difference at all? should i get a full HD tv instead or this one will do just fine?

I’m getting this tomorrow (wednesday, november 26/2008), at USD $1265 tax included . I think it is pretty cheap, but i’d like to know what i’m buying into. I really dunno much about HD stuff :( , so i’d appreciate a little help, thanx a lot =)
EDIT:

Stephen M, i really appreciate your answer to my question, it is actually very accurate, and i’m reading a lot into it to find out more in the links you posted.

So, it only supports up to 720, that’s too bad. But then, would i notice the difference between 720 and 1080? I mean, i wouldn’t like to make a rushed buy if it ain’t gonna be a good (or "decent" at least) buy. I’m a huge fan of PS3 games and HD videos/ graphics, tho unfortunately i really don’t know much about it. Would they look bad on this LG tv set?

I live in Ecuador, South America. 32" to 52" LCD HD TV’s are sold over the USD $1000 price range, being a 42" about $2000 and so on price.

It would be the only chance to get a 42" tv at that price, but again, if you or anyone thinks it ain’t worth it, then i’ll pass. thanx again =)

D_Icon is wrong (on several counts)

This set is capable of 720p only. I do not know where you are but in the US, $1265 for a 42 inch 720p set is not a good price.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_video

Quote "A common resolution used in HD Ready LCD TV panels is 1366 × 768[2] pixels instead of the ATSC Standard 1280 × 720 pixels. This is due to maximization of manufacturing yield and resolution of VGA, VRAM that comes with a 768 pixel format. Hence, LCD manufacturers adopt the 16:9 ratio compatible for the HD Ready 1080p standard."

Without having a 720p and 1080p set side by side with the same signal, I doubt most people would be able to tell the difference. We have a 720 p set in out house along with a 1080p set and we love both of them. As far as the cost, with exchange rates and all, I’m simply not qualified to say if that is a good price or not. It would not be all that good here, but your situation is different. If you can afford it and like the set, go for it. Good luck!

Dear all

I plan to buy samsung led tv, this is the first time i am going to buy samsung products i never buy LCD before

i am confused which series of samsung i need to buy there is 6,7 and 8 series in samsung what is the difference between this, which one is best among these series suggestion please
thanks in advance

You must be living in asia.

First you pick the right brand, congratulation. Samsung has the best led tv in the present.

8 series is of course the best in the series but on a cost of a very high price. The spec between the series are:
-8 series: led-edge backlight,1080p24 full hd, 200/240hz, mega contrast ratio, internet tv, 4 hdmi.
-7 series: led-edge backlight,1080p24 full hd, 100/120hz, mega contrast ratio, internet tv, 4 hdmi.
-6 series: led-edge backlight,1080p24 full hd, 100/120hz, mega contrast ratio, 4 hdmi.

If I have to choose, I will choose 6 series because I don’t need the internet tv but because 6 series lack of 55" than I will choose 7 series if I need 55". Except you have extra cash, I think there are more reasons to buy 7 series rather than 8 series since all the spec are the same beside the 200/240hz. The 200/240hz isn’t really worth it since you can’t really tell the difference with your own eyes the gap between 100/120hz with 200/240hz.

I just found this TV and I am really close buying it but first I want to know if there are any reviews for it because I searched everywhere and found nothing.

Haier HL24XSLW2 24" Slim LED 1080P LCD HDTV White

If anyone has any info please let me know.

Looks good to me. Basically a computer monitor with a built in TV. Good for bedrooms, or small apartments. It’s a little expensive for something with a contrast ratio of 160000. But, buy it, try it, and if you don’t like it, return it.

LG is a more reputable brand, but they tend to be a bit pricey. Sceptre is one of those fly-by-night brands that outsources their LCD production to God knows where, so the reliability isn’t the same: you might end up with a good model, or you might end up with a lemon. The LG also has a better customer support network should anything go wrong.

Though if I am reading this right, the Sceptre has more inputs. So if you want more inputs and a larger screen and are willing to take a risk with reliability, go for it.

When will they release a 55inch sony or samsung oled? is it worth waiting for it or should i buy led tv?

OLED technology will not be economical for probably 5-8 more years…at least! The technology is just too expensive to develop right now!

If i was you…i wouldn’t bother with LED LCD’s either! You can get a better pic quality out of a Plasma TV for a lot cheaper! Plasma TV’s and LED TV’s have similar contrast ratio’s except Plasma’s have a higher Native contrast ratio…which is more important! But that’s were the similarities end!

Plasma TV’s have a much, much faster pixel response time(.001ms) then LED LCD’s(2ms)! 2,000 times faster! They also have a faster refresh rate(600hz) then LED LCD’s(240hz)! This makes Plasma’s much better at fast motion content like sports, movies & gaming! See the link below for more info and facts!
