And if there is not specific tv’s available to those details. What Tv’s are not CCFL backlit. But are RGB back lit or HCFL? .. that i could purchase instead? I only ask this because i want true white light backlighting for true color and contrast.
Lol yeah but bigger = more money, plus more room, im a college student with limited space in my room as well. i could use a wall mount but i would like to stay around 32-40 – 46 would be max max size.

I recommend Samsung UN40C6300 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black).

they suggested it, i’m re thinking it, but what do you think i should do?

I respect RT but it is a well know fact that the televisions at the factory are set to "Torch" mode. This means nearly 100% brightness and contrast so the TV will stand out if it use used for a display in a store.

I do approve of ISF Calibration – but you can do a basic calibration yourself.

Get a Pixar movie. (Up, Cars, Wall-E, etc) and go to the video setup menu. It will have test patterns and instructions of what to adjust. This will give you a rough calibration for the DVD player. Then you mimic the settings and picture for the Sat/Cable/Antenna input (yes – each input may have different settings.)

If you want to master your gear – get Digital Video Essentials from Amazon for about $18. It has more test patterns and tutorials so you can calibrate the display yourself.

You can always get the professionals to come in later if you want.

Is this a good bedroom TV to buy?

Posted by admin in lg led tv

I am replacing the 30′ Westinghouse 1080p 120hz Tv in my bedroom. It is bright so I don’t want a Plasma. I have looked at LED and they seem ok, but LCD is more tested. I don’t have a set price but below $1200 is ok below $1000 is great and below $900 is awesome.

Feel Free to make suggestions, just remember these guidelines:
MUST be 240hz
Must be 1080p
Must be LCD/LED (not LG LED)

I don’t care too much about people saying the sound isn’t that great, I have other Toshiba Regzas that sound just fine.

My pick:

I think its a good option Toshiba REGZA 42ZV650U 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

you can even consider Samsung LN40B750 40-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV around $1000

I am in the market for a new TV and have narrowed my selection down to the LG 42LH90. I considered plasma’s but for what I will be using it for (gaming, TV, movies, internet browsing, etc.) I decided that LCD was a better choice for me. I am already a little over what I wanted to spend but, the LG has gotten great reviews online and I think it’s the one best suited for me. I am however a little worried that it will be unable to support any 3D movies or games. I had my eye on the Vizio SV422XVT at first, but was advised that the LED back lighting of the LG is worth the extra cost. If the LG does support 3D, that’s great. If not, can someone recommend a TV that will support 3D and still be as close to everything the LG already is?

No, it does not support 3D. There will be new model from LG that support 3D out soon. Series LX9500 available in 47" and 55"

Good quality brand that support 3D available now is Samsung, here they are

any quality tv brands out there?

Posted by admin in led dlp tv

im confused. all these brands i thought were good (samsung, jvc, etc) quality have repeated serious complaints with there tv’s. from power supply just not working to picture just going out. and its not on the older tvs even though they are newer people have had problems with the led also. how do you get what you pay for if your top of the line tv goes out?

im okay with paying for a warranty but i want to buy a quality tv with an excellent picture for my husbands homecoming from afghanistan one he can be proud to sow off to his friends not go out while they are gaming or watching a big game. any advice?

also what type of tv is best plasma, dlp, lcd, led-lcd? i was going to go with an lcd or a quality led-lcd when i find one but are the others better?

Each technology have their pros & cons.Which one to get is really depend on you. Here are some pros & cons for your decision.

Plasma have better ability to render deep blacks, more color depth, better motion tracking (response time) and more availability in very large screen sizes but more susceptible to burn-in, more heat generation and screen glare in brightly lit rooms.
Good quality brand for Plasma is Panasonic and another good brand is Samsung
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26redirect%3Dtrue%26ref_%3Dsr%255Fnr%255Fp%255Fn%255Ffeature%255Fthree%255Fbr%255F1%26bbn%3D979929011%26qid%3D1265330313%26rnid%3D724226011%26rh%3Dn%253A172282%252Cn%253A%2521493964%252Cn%253A1266092011%252Cn%253A172659%252Cn%253A979929011%252Cp%255Fn%255Ffeature%255Fthree%255Fbrowse-bin%253A724228011&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

LCD television advantages include no burn-in susceptibility, cooler running, less screen glare, longer display life, looks better in brightly lit rooms and less power consumption than Plasma but not as good rendering deep blacks, not as good at tracking motion (although this is improving, especially with the implementation of 120Hz refresh rates and some now offer 240Hz on higher-end models).
Good quality brand for LCD is Samsung or Sony

Pros & Cons of LED is almost same as LCD but LED come with higher contrast ratio, deeper black, better picture quality , super slim and 40% less power consumption but higher price
Samsung is leader in LED-LCD TV.
