Help me pick a TV!!!?

Posted by admin in visio led tv

I’m a TV dinosaur. I’ve still got an old 41" massive TV that you need a forklift to get off the entertainment stand. The ‘off’ button has been broken for years and we’d be out of luck without a universal remote.

I’ve finally decided to upgrade to either a 42", 47" or 50" flat screen. I took one look at the walmart showroom and just about fainted. Information overkill!!
Do I get an LED LCD, LED DLP, Plasma or Laser? Should I get High Definition? Do they come with a DVD player. Which one has the best picture? If it’s HD, can I still get regular cable? Cost is also a factor, but so is quality. I don’t want to buy a cheap Visio 42" and have it break 10 months later when I could’ve bought a Sony for 100 bucks more.
Are there any TV Guru’s out there who can help me?
I’m not picking on Vizio. I actually had a couple Panasonic VHS/DVD players crap out on me so I would stay away from them before I’d snub Vizio…

Well…LED LCD’s and Plasma TVs have the best picture quality!

They both have high contrast ratios giving them the blackest blacks and most vivid and rich looking colors! Standard LCD’s have lower contrast ratios, resulting in greyed blacks and washed out looking colors!

Plasma’s however, have the fastest response times(.001ms) and fastest refresh rates(600hz), making them the best at producing the sharpest and smoothest motion with fast motion content like sports, movies and gaming! Plasma’s are also the most affordable HDTV per screen size. For more info on LCD and Plasma, see this site: http://www.plasma-lcd-facts.co.uk/

LED LCD’s however, use the least amount of energy of all the HDTV’s! Usually 40% less energy! However…LED LCD’s are the most expensive HDTV which offsets their energy savings! (in order to make up the difference with the cost of the TV, you’d need to own it for at least 10yrs).

Dollar for dollar, Plasma TV’s are the best option! Panasonic is currenly the most reliable brand of Plasma HDTVs followed by Samsung(from my experience in HDTV repair)! Pioneer used to be the king of Plasma, but has stopped making TV’s so their TV’s are hard to find and extremely expensive! These are the only brands that i recommend for Plasma!

To answer the rest of your questions: get a Plasma(Panasonic)…all of the tvs that i’ve been talking about are HD…if you get a HDTV, your regular cable will work, it’ll just look aweful. I recommend upgrading to a HD package of some kind once you get your HDTV(local, Dish network, etc)!

And whether or not you need a 720p or 1080p TV depends on how far you sit and the size of the TV. See this chart for more info: http://s3.carltonbale.com/resolution_chart.html
